Countdown to ICSC RetailGreen
Boston saw its first snowflakes last week, and somehow ICSC RetailGreen is only a month away. RetailGreen is the largest gathering of sustainability-minded retail real estate professionals in North America and runs concurrently with ICSC Centerbuild. The two conferences bring together nearly 2000 people in one hotel in Phoenix to wrap up the year in retail development. I’m proud to…
LEED and Beyond
We recently announced that our office in Post Office Square was certified LEED Gold. It was exciting to practice what we’ve preached for so long, and to have our “home” declared a sustainable place is a point of pride. Our thoughts are also on spreading sustainability on a national level, especially with the retail development community. Back in November, I…
Omnichannel Retailing Brings the Right Mix
The biggest change in the retail landscape in the last 15 years has obviously been online buying. In the last 3 to 5 years, the conversation around it has approached a fever pitch. Worried about the “Death of the Mall” and even Main Street mom and pop stores, the International Council of Shopping Centers has lobbied Congress to level the…
The Photos Are In for BKB Chicago
Brooklyn has arrived in Chicago! Earlier this year, the newest Brooklyn Boulders Rock Climbing Gym debuted in Chicago’s West Loop—the professional photos are in, and we wanted to share them with you. What was once a meatpacking district, the West Loop is now a haven for tech companies, amazing restaurants, art galleries, and now, BKB Chicago. At 25,000 square feet,…

RetailGreen: Tales from a Newbie
I recently attended my first ICSC RetailGreen and Centerbuild conferences this year. As a newbie in the room I wasn’t sure what to expect, and I must say it was a great experience. There were tons of people to meet and a wide spectrum of perspectives from within the retail building industry. This led to plenty of interesting and diverse conversations throughout the week.
ICSC RetailGreen Wrap Up
“Renowned speakers from around the world… New research presented for the first time… A call for a National Water Summit in the Spring of 2015…” Those are some notes I took from just the first two hours of the ICSC RetailGreen Conference. This year’s conference, the seventh annual, was the best ever. Ok, as co-Chair of the event, I’m biased,…
L.L. Bean Store Openings
November has been an exciting month for the L.L. Bean team here at Arrowstreet. Over the past three weeks, we have had grand openings at three new L.L. Bean retail stores across the country.
At the Minneapolis opening at the Mall of America, I had the opportunity to meet Seth Wescot. Seth is a really cool guy who is helping L.L. Bean grow their younger customer base by testing a product line called “Traverse,” which is designed for serious outdoor sporting conditions. Who is Seth Wescot and what credentials does he have in this area? How about winning two Olympic gold medals in Snowboard Cross? I had a great time talking with Seth at the opening…
Photos of Chestnut Hill Square
Arrowstreet is pleased to debut photos from the recently completed project at Chestnut Hill Square in Newton. Now that many occupants have opened their doors – including luxury fitness leaders Equinox and Soul Cycle, retailers Anthropologie and Athleta, restaurants Brio and Seasons 52, and the much anticipated Wegmans – this beautiful September day was the perfect time to take advantage of the quickly waning New…
SCTLive Webinar
I am speaking on the topic of sustainability for a webinar hosted on May 7 from 2-3pm by the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and Shopping Centers Today magazine. This is part of a new series of short retail events, called SCT Live, to be held in targeted regions throughout the country…
