White Elephant Hotel Renovations

For the Nantucket landmark, the White Elephant, Arrowstreet designed a total renovation and major addition. The new resort includes familiar architectural elements of Nantucket’s 18th century maritime past, including simple cedar shingles, small-paned windows, and painted wooden balconies. These elements are blended with small courtyards that open to panoramic ocean vistas, typical of the island’s grand, 19th century hotels. The 16,000-square-foot original building now houses 11 cottage-style suites, and the 20,000-square-foot addition has 53 luxury guest rooms and suites. The White Elephant also contains meeting rooms and a restaurant with outdoor seating for 200.
