Arrowstreet worked with the Town of Milton and Milton Public Schools to address crowding across the District through the creation of a new Upper Middle School (grades 7-8) and independent Pre-Kindergarten program. This will free up space in the existing schools across the District while creating a new Upper Middle School designed to meet the high-performing educational goals of the community.
The new Upper Middle School and Pre-Kindergarten will anchor a new academic campus while creating academic synergies with the nearby High School. Initially presented with both programs in the same building, Arrowstreet developed a key strategy to separate the pre-K into its own building, creating an individual identity for the program, minimizing traffic conflicts during busy periods, and reducing overall project costs.
Arrowstreet led the educational programming and planning for both schools, allowing school leadership to envision the new programs from the ground up to articulate their educational goals while developing the school planning. A key consideration, for example, is organizing classrooms into grade level neighborhoods with shared, project-based learning breakout rooms, open and flexible teaming areas, student services, and faculty workrooms, all intended to support individual learning needs while creating a nurturing environment for students.
