- Acton Facility & Electrification Study
Town of Acton adopted a Climate Emergency Declaration to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Like many towns with early adoption of future proofing goals, they were faced with the task of understanding how to carry out this goal, where to concentrate their efforts, and what to tackle first. Arrowstreet was hired to assist in answering these questions through a facility conditions assessment and decarbonization and capital plan. The plan allows Acton to coordinate general capital improvements with electrification upgrades. The study included 19 municipal buildings, including town hall, public safety building, DPW, fire stations, community center, two public libraries, and other public recreation facilities.
The envelope and MEP systems were evaluated for electrification and alignment with the 2023 MA Specialized Energy Code and the Town’s 2030 goals. State and federal incentives were explored to cover costs of upgrades. Arrowstreet then developed a timeline of which upgrades should be prioritized and combined for cost savings through the next ten years.
