Upon entering Seaport East, tenants and visitors are welcomed into a light-filled lobby that leads seamlessly into the Wintergarden—a calming retreat where natural elements and modern design coexist. With recent renovations by a local interior designer, the lobby, mezzanine, and Wintergarden now serve as a thoughtful balance between Boston’s bustling Seaport District and a quiet urban oasis designed to foster connection and relaxation.

Our team at Arrowstreet developed a minimal yet impactful signage and wayfinding system to complement the interior design vision. Working closely with Pembroke’s interior design director, we embraced the vision for a “slick yet relaxed” aesthetic, creating signage that quietly integrates into the serene environment while guiding visitors with ease.

The signage system is understated and refined, with simple, elegant identification markers and custom-designed symbols, including parking and restroom icons, that harmonize with the sleek interior palette. For the tenant directory, we developed a slender totem concept, designed to appear as though it leans lightly against the wall. By recessing the digital display into the Venetian plaster wall, we preserved the totem’s thin, sculptural presence, seamlessly merging form with function.

Our thoughtful approach to signage design supports the layered experience of Seaport East, allowing occupants to navigate intuitively through spaces designed for work, relaxation, and socialization. Whether visitors are drawn to the light-filled Wintergarden or the intimate mezzanine, the wayfinding system guides them through this urban retreat, ensuring a seamless journey from bustling city streets to a peaceful, welcoming sanctuary within.
