For over 50 years, The NeoCon Exhibition has provided a platform for interior designers to come together and explore new materials, textiles, patterns, as well as the latest innovative trends. Held in Chicago, Arrowstreet’s Ashley McDonnell, Interior Designer, and Valerie Warren, Interior Designer, attended this multi-day event, and they had the opportunity to experience more than deep dish pizza.
This year showcased over 400 companies including Andreu World, Anthom House, Arper, Bernhardt, Camira/Luna, HBF Furniture, Herman Miller, DWR, Emeco, Enwork, EtCetera, Ethnicraft, Hightower, Kettal, Kimball, Knoll, Marin Brattrud, Mutto, and Poppin to name a few. Washed out earth tones, and Scandinavian inspired palettes – muted oranges, greens, blues, peaches, and roses were among the various color schemes introduced at this year’s conference. 2022 is also the year that commercial and residential interior design become a seamless experience. Furniture and fixtures with modular, clean, and elegant design solutions were demonstrated to match the rising need for flexibility in hybrid working solutions. Employees are now looking for the comforts of home in the office. Sustainable solutions and responsible design was another key trend takeaway. The use of honest materials, the ability to quickly disassemble, and the heavy integration of biophilia will enable interior designers to make a sustainable impact in the lives and well-being of users.
NeoCon has provided insight into many meaningful trends. We are excited to see the impact in many of our upcoming projects!
