Since our inception in the 1960’s, Arrowstreet’s core creative mission has been to continuously reimagine typical building typologies and push ourselves beyond the traditional approach to architecture. The firm focuses on creative problem solving, thinking critically about the ways in which our society is changing, and how it will impact the built environment. We research and identify future needs based on the evolution of technology, shifts in human mobility, and climate change.
Arrowstreet approaches each commission uniquely and develops thoughtful, forward-thinking design solutions that blend the authentic character of a community with progressive ideas and techniques. We have developed a dedicated innovation and research studio, known as AIR—a series of research and development incubators ranging from mixed-reality and responsive environments to mobility, data science, and mass customization. This research is applied to every project, backing our designs with real-time insights and a fact-based understanding of how architecture impacts cities/buildings and the people who interact with them.
Arrowstreet is a local leader in Boston’s architecture community, designing some of Greater Boston’s most innovative and sustainable developments. In the past year alone, the firm has designed 900,000 square feet of educational space, 1,800 units of housing, 500,000 square feet of office, over 450 hotel rooms, and over 100,000 square feet of public realm space.
