This Fall, Arrowstreet interiors had the unique opportunity to join Tony Butlin of Division 9 Collaborative on a tour of tile manufacturers in Sassuolo, Italy. The Italian province is an industrial hub and home to hundreds of tile manufacturing showrooms and factories, including Valmori, Lea Ceramiche, 41 Zero 42, Ceramiche Piemme, Target, 14Ora, Provenza and Iris. Not only was the team exposed to the most current tile trends, they received an inside look into the creative process behind the designs, along with an understanding of the day-to-day process of tile production within the factories.
In addition to tile, the interiors team was also introduced to several wall-paper manufacturers, including iDesign and Inkiostro both of whom are pushing the boundaries of wall-covering design within the market.
Beyond the tours, the team had the opportunity to enjoy a lunch at Enzo Ferrari’s restaurant and several four-hour long dinners – because of course, a trip to Italy wouldn’t be complete without the province’s celebrated home-made tortellini. On our final day, we explored the city of Bologna, home to the oldest university in the Europe, founded in 1088 AD.
Fully inspired, the interiors team is excited to incorporate their finding into upcoming projects.
