The renovation of the Thayer Public Library Children’s Room in Braintree, MA is the result of creative collaboration between Arrowstreet’s Graphics, Architecture, and Interior Design studios. In order to increase opportunities for family interaction and instill a love of reading and learning in the community’s youngest members, we prioritized flexible, adaptive, and inviting spaces. Our team was inspired by the room’s historic stained glass windows, and that inspiration informed color, material, and finish selections, as well as the carpet pattern derived from the five colors of the stained glass.
