While working with BioMed Realty to create the Sidney Research Campus, we partnered with one of their new biotech tenants to fit out their new space. Our interiors group partnered with our architectural team to design a collaborative office and lab space with clean lines and innovative features to reflect both their brand and the fast-moving life sciences community in Cambridge.
Our client requested an active environment that combines open workspaces with collaborative areas. We designed a series of phone rooms, huddle spaces, shared conference rooms, laboratories, and open work areas around a central corridor, called “Main Street.” With a ceiling soffit accented by linear cove lighting and opulent flooring, Main Street guides visitors through the space to a large collaboration zone.
Along the way, color and texture, such as the wood ceiling in the reception area, kitchen, library, and collaboration areas, are used as destination guides and anchor points. The crisp and clean design is reflected in the furniture choices, including innovative WorkLounges, which were used to create intimate spaces within public areas. The fine details provide the finishing touches, and the company’s design standard was utilized to integrate their signature hexagonal branding with graphic accent features, hex-shaped tables, and a custom hexagonal chandelier.
The result is a modern space that fulfills the client’s needs while offering visitors and employees a stylish work environment. We look forward to sharing more of our work from the Sidney Research Campus soon.
