Boston saw its first snowflakes last week, and somehow ICSC RetailGreen is only a month away. RetailGreen is the largest gathering of sustainability-minded retail real estate professionals in North America and runs concurrently with ICSC Centerbuild. The two conferences bring together nearly 2000 people in one hotel in Phoenix to wrap up the year in retail development.
I’m proud to be in the second year of my two-year commitment as co-chair, and have participated on the programming committee for the last five years. My co-chair this year is Will Teichman, Sr. Director of Strategic Operations at Kimco, one of the largest retail center owners in the US, and together we have helped grow attendance and sponsorship to the largest in the 7-year history of RetailGreen.
In my last post I spoke about some of our extraordinary speakers, and they are only a part of what looks to be our best year ever for educational content. We’re looking forward to presentations from the Related Companies on Hudson Yards in New York City, and Jeff Risom of Gehl Studio, Copenhagen, on transforming parking lots into profit-generating community resources.
After soaking in all of this new information, I know Matt Byrnes-Jacobsen and I will be looking forward to the Green Tie gala, which features a “green” cocktail, and is open to all attendees from both conferences. It’s always a huge hit and we hope to see you there!
