We are honored to announce that our project, 139 Main Street, has won a Cambridge Historical Commission Preservation Award! MITIMCo and Arrowstreet repositioned this historic building, one of the last remaining pieces of first-generation commercial construction in the City of Cambridge. The former Red Cross building—on which you can see its original marble sign “Luke Building”—has been renovated and its original masonry-bearing façade restored. The first-floor storefront includes new glazing to match the original 1860 fenestration. This adaptive reuse included re-enforcing the building’s foundations and reconstructing the southeast corner facades due to serious settlement imperiling the foundations and brick walls.
