Last Thursday, Governor Baker spoke at the Brooke Charter School, proposing legislation that would allow more charter schools to open statewide. Arrowstreet designed the new location for the Brooke school and it opened last year; they were able to move to the new Mattapan location to accommodate their growing and academically rigorous program to accommodate students in grades K-8.
You can learn more about the charter school bill in the Boston Globe article; it would allow 12 new or expanded charter schools each in r districts that are performing in the bottom 25 percent on standardized tests.
We’re currently working on another charter school in the neighborhood; KIPP Boston is a K-8 school scheduled to open in August 2016 in Mattapan.
