As you can see from the above site photos, construction is well underway on Ocean 650. This residential development is part of Arrowstreet’s Waterfront Square at Revere Beach masterplan—a transit-oriented, mixed use development adjacent to the Wonderland T station. The 230-unit high-rise building is podium construction—a three-hour fire rated assembly will separate the cast in place concrete parking garage from five levels of wood frame construction. We designed the building as a contemporary interpretation of traditional New England coastal architecture; building amenities include a clubroom and fitness center with ocean views, outdoor space with a roof deck, a courtyard filled with dunes of native vegetation, and a pool deck inspired by oceanside boardwalks.
The project broke ground in May 2015, and the dry summer has aided efficient cast in place concrete construction. Geopier foundations were installed to reduce footing sizes and minimize soil disturbance. Above grade, construction is progressing simultaneously vertically and horizontally from the southeast site corner. Post tensioned concrete slabs, columns and walls are currently being prepared and poured on levels two and three. The wood frame exterior, demising and shaft walls will be a prefabricated panel system. Installation of the wood frame panels is scheduled for early December 2015.
Phased building occupancy is anticipated, with phase one expected toward the end of 2016, and final occupancy achieved in the spring of 2017.
