This morning, I took a walk through the new Boston Public Market, which is celebrating its grand opening today. I was especially excited to visit and see the finished product of a long-anticipated idea. Arrowstreet has a special connection with this location–back in the ’90s, we led a team of several local architects for the design of Parcel 7, which included this retail space, the T station below, and the office and parking above.

Ten years before the completion of the Greenway and still in the midst of the Big Dig, our dream was for something exactly like the Public Market to take root on the site. The design strove to activate street life at this critical juncture of downtown while integrating infrastructure, parking, retail, and office space within the historic setting of the adjacent Blackstone Block. Little did we know, that when the time came, our office would be within walking distance of the site, and we would be able to take part in all of the benefits the space has to offer!
